Review :

Great Episode!

This episode was simply awesome. I loved the montage at the end (if anybody knows the name of the song, PLEASE put it up on the soundtrack listing, or at least let me know)! Sam's character, especially at the end, was well played, as was Betty Blue's when he was saying his little wedding speech through the radio.

Molly's whole thing was good storytelling, but it made me dislike her character more. I don't know if that's what the writers had in mind, but she's making him choose between something that he feels like he has to do, and something that he loves. It's a lose-lose situation, and even though she's feeling unsafe and tired after everything that's happened, that's no excuse to abandon your husband like that. Even if he chooses her, he'll always remember him abandoning his team, especially if one of them gets killed. So basically Molly is being dumb, IMO.

But it's all good storytelling, and this episode was no doubt one of my favorites, besides Hill 60 and Five Brothers. I hope you guys get renewed!!!

The Winchesters come face to face with the gods! More than the angels and demons they've faced of late, the gods of Greek legend will appear when Sam and Dean investigate a mysterious case involving an amnesiac man with an unusual habit of dying.

Review :

The writers should stay away from the gods.

It never works when they bring in a god as a monster of the week. What mythology makes out to be an cosmically powerful and significant being that's been around for thousands of years invariably ends up being presented as something so dim you wouldn't expect it to survive its teen years -- and lo and behold, they seldom survive the episode.

Worse, they pretty much never even make interesting characters. The only one that managed that was the Trickster, who turned out not to be a god at all.

Also, Zeus' complaint in this episode didn't even make sense. Prometheus is why they weren't worshiped anymore? But they *were* worshiped, for at least a thousand years after the theft of fire could have happened. State religion, huge temples dedicated to them, epic poems that are still studied today, and then the Romans even copied the pantheon. By pretty much any measure, they were incredibly successful for a long, long time.

Synopsis Homeland: Season 3, Episode 1 - Tin Man Is Down

Now director Estes is dead and Brody disappeared, the decapitated CIA morns over 200 casualties and fears for its very existence unless a congressional commission can be appeased despite its hostile chairman. Saul Berenson is promoted director, seconded by Dar Adal, who pushes him to go ahead with a coordinated lethal strikes on six main henchman in different countries, alas without the director, of the Iranian Revolutionaru Guard secret division which is held responsible. While most are killed from the air, Peter Quinn must penetrate a Caracas mansion to manually eliminate the 'banker', which alas also results in a collateral child casualty. Carrie foolishly waves her father's questions about failing medication and tequila abuse, but after a press leak Saul is forced to expose her mental disorder and blame her alone for the Brody debacle. Chris is the near-ruined Brody family's rock of strength, while mother and her mother wine and Dana returns after therapy where she fell in love ...

Review :

Hung out to dry

Almost three months have passed since the bombing at the CIA left over two hundred people dead and life is not easy for the characters who remain. Carrie is being grilled by a senate committee and it would appear that somebody at the CIA is happy for her to take as much of the blame for what happened as possible; the Brody family are finding it difficult now that ex-hero, ex-congressman Nicolas Brody is the most wanted man since Osama bin Laden and the CIA needs a successful mission to detract from the mess they are in. The last of these sees new CIA Director Saul Berenson ordering the assassination of six people that the CIA believes were connected to the attack.

This was a pretty solid start to the third series; it was more about dealing with the aftermath of the previous series than setting up the action that is sure to follow. It was a brave move to entirely omit fugitive Brody from the episode, after the brief recap, I think it worked though; we just have to accept that he is out there somewhere and whether he will return good or bad must remain a mystery for now. One couldn't help but feel sorry for his family who are both dealing with him being wanted for terrorism and daughter Dana's attempted suicide; these problems were well handled. While I'm sure things will improve for Carrie in the long run things just go from bad to worse for her here; Claire Danes does a fine job showing her getting more and more manic as she sees herself being betrayed. There isn't a huge amount of action but what there is is fairly exciting. Overall I thought this was a good opening episode which left be keen to see the rest of the series.

Synopsis How I Met Your Mother: Season 8, Episode 14 - Ring Up!

Although on the surface they are both happy about their engagement, Robin and Barney contemplate sabotaging that happiness for different reasons. Wearing an engagement ring, Robin eventually comes to the realization that the ring is making her invisible to men, and as such they don't lavish her with gifts as they used to do. She has to decide whether the ring or the free gifts and attention are more important. And although Barney says he is disgusted by Ted dating twenty year old Carly with who he only has a mutual physical attraction in common (she who is into "old" guys), Barney needs Ted to sleep with her if only to live through Ted vicariously. Ted, however, is thinking of breaking up with Carly without ever having slept with her unless he can find something, anything, as a common emotional ground between the two of them. Barney's need for Ted to do this act may be affected by beautiful Carly herself. And Marshall is sporting a new look as it is turning Lily's crank, but that look...

Review :

Ted is getting old and so does the show...

Ted's desperation for meeting a woman becomes more visible when he is trying to get a 20 years old girl in his arms, Barney is trying to overcome his old addiction, Robin learns lessons about love and Lily-Marshall spice things up to get out of the couple with a baby routine. There were 3 different perspectives over love in this episode from one night stand to fresh engaged couple and routine. Few thing to be learned, some gigs, overall good performances, a musical moment, not the best episode from this season, but not the worst one either. As Ted is starting to feel a bit old by getting involved with a 20 years old so does the show. There is no more of the spark from the antecedent seasons, but in a way this helps the show to move forward and I'm looking forward for an improvement on the next episode.

Synopsis How I Met Your Mother: Season 8, Episode 13 - Band or DJ?

Five friends who reunite in an attempt to top their epic pub crawl from 20 years earlier unwittingly become humankind's only hope for survival. 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World's End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries.

Review :

The ultimate sci-fi pub crawl film.

Five friends return to their hometown to relive a pub crawl they never finished in their youth, however, they find their town has been invaded by interstellar beings 'Blanks' and the crawl could literary kill them. Director/writer Edger Wright returns with this British set, sci-fi, beer-fuelled pub crawl yarn. Once again like Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Hot Fuzz (2007) what makes this so likable is the Simon Pegg and Nick Frost combination - the two have great chemistry, they're not only funny but warm too. There's plenty of camaraderie between the five friends mixed with the humorous restlessness of a school reunion. The on location feel gives it an air of realism and captures a current British small town perfectly. Wright once again shows that he's at the top of his game, the action scenes are wonderfully executed and the effects are superb. The soundtrack oozes nostalgia and accompanying music score is fitting. Some jokes my go over some international viewer's heads, but the majority cater for all. The first half of the film injects the most one liners and comedy output with the old gang rejoining and their return to the town, while the second is more action orientated when they go head to head with the invaders. The beings glowing eyes are reminiscent of Demons (1985) while the set up feels like Invasion of the Body Snatcher (1956/78) only with a twist and the closing confrontation plays out like an episode of Star Trek/Doctor Who followed by an outlandish flash-forward. There's plenty of homage's thrown in just for fun, Pegg as washed up excitable alcoholic/drug intoxicated Gary King plays against the usual nice guy, here he's a man you love to hate, you really want him to succeed. Frost is kick-ass lovable. It's strength is that you care about the fate of the characters. The supporting cast are excellent including (surprisingly well cast) Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman to name a few and a surprise cameo by an ex-Bond. If Shaun was on the money, and Hot Fuzz was wordy, The World's End is somewhere in between. Highly recommended.

nice episode

For me not the best one from TBBT.. but it will keep up.

When Sheldon came to know about that his assistant hitting on his friend Leonard ....He calls sheldoncooper:council of ladies ..to find the solution to his problem that As Alex should only worried about him as she is her assistant. As per suggestions he explains Alex that all womens are slaves to there urgencies and compared to egg salad sandwich.. shows some not good pics on diseases causes them. later Sheldon gets call from human resource for his behavior with staff at campus. Sheldon explains her has 'he done favor to her ,and puts all his friends in trouble, by telling their secrets. ' most interesting part is when Sheldon assigns his lessons to Alex.. thinking he is too intelligent to waste is time for.

Synopsis Almost Human: Season 1, Episode 2 - Skin

In night two of the series premiere, Detective John Kennex and Dorian are dispatched to investigate a murder and high-profile missing persons case that lead them into the highly profitable world of IRCs - Intimate Robot Companions - also known as sexbots. Meanwhile, Kennex looks to reconcile a part of his troubled past.

Review :

Are Friends Electric?

This is the second time in a JJ Abrams/JH Wyman show that Gary Numan has been programmed, categorized and easily referenced. The first time was in the famous "White Tulip" episode of Fringe- The actual Song "Are Friends Electric" was being played on a CD player.

Here, the phrase has multiple meanings all throughout the episode. The first is a Literal Meaning, ie, an "Electric Friend": Darla Taylor is 'Charlene" - A "Sexbot" hired by Sebastian Jones (Robert Moloney) - And he is doing some odd things to her.

But he is murdered by 2 guys who have no faces, and as she is taken from the Hotel Room, she spreads Human DNA around like a trail of Breadcrumbs.

Breadcrumbs for Kennex (Karl Urban) and Dorian, the trail leads to several missing women and a former partner of Jones who was suing Jones. Seems that their company was hired by Albanians - "Albinos" as "Rudy" (Mackenzie Crook) calls them.

The Second meaning for "Are Friends Electric" is the name of the Albanian Company which is making illegal Sex Robots with Human DNA and "real skin". There are some great connections in this first "Monster Of The Week" episode of Almost Human. In the Pilot, we were introduced to the Series Mythos - "InSyndicate" Who was being run by Tim Kelleher, and their target: A Robot Head stored in Evidence Locker number 6663. I suppose that story will find it's way into future episodes.

This is a very interesting Future Landscape. Dorian (Michael Ealy) has many of the same thoughts about life and existence as Kennex does, that he is a robot does not make a difference. As "Mr. Data" says in "Star Trek Next Generation", the way he defines friendship is that he gets used to the input of his friends, and when that input is absent, it is missed. Dorian expresses this with the 'Sexbot" Vanessa (The Mechanically Gorgeous Ella Thomas).

We tell our kids, when their parent dies, "They have gone to a better place" - But this is for their comfort. There is no better place for an absent friend than being in the Memory of those left behind.

But there is something more insidious happening here, why do these Sex Droids leave the DNA of Kidnapped Women behind? The answer is pretty harrowing, but I was relieved that it was not what I expected.

This show is bound for greatness - It's only Flaw is that it is on FOX network. The world that Wyman has created is visually astounding - IN Fringe, we had trouble with houses and streets that were supposed to be in Boston, not looking like what they should look like. We had to suspend a lot of disbelief there. This is not necessary here, there is no recognizable world as we know it in this show, when we see streets and freeways, it is a believable futuristic landscape.

Sometimes Dorian says too much, but he has a remarkable way of recovering his tact. If this show follows the level of quality laid out here and in the Pilot, then there is a Future for it, even on FOX.

Review :

Engaging

After hearing all of the acclaim for Homeland's first season, I have decided to give it a go. The Pilot was was all pilots should be- engaging enough to continue. The Pilot wasn't perfect, but it moved at a brisk pace, and was always intriguing. I also want to say that Claire Danes is fantastic so far. Her character is very interesting, and Danes handled it magnificently. This character has the potential to become one of the classic TV problematic characters that we have (Tony Soprano, Walter White, Don Draper, McNulty). Al in a,, very pleased with this Pilot, and I will definitely continue watching. These days, it seems as if Television has come full circle... it is completely well-made and well thought out, and if this turns out to be half as good as Rubicon, The Wire, or Breaking Bad, then I am all the better for it.

Review :

Still Very Riveting

This second episode has me locked in the story; I'm really enjoying this retelling. All the characters have an edge, and Stephen Amell does an amazing job playing the dual identity. His character really is 2 different people. It makes sense, and it brings flesh to the comic. The way the story is written, it is very believable. Some of the plot structure may be predictable in this episode (and that's not bad by any means); it's just comes with the style of story. In this retelling that is more detailed than anything captured on film about our Emerald Archer, we see layers to these characters and something very gritty. I wonder what the focus of each of these future seasons will be will be; I can't wait. Having 'China White' in the episode was great too. I'm looking forward to more DC characters being woven into this story.

Review :

Lighthouse & Ferry at end of episode

At the end of the episode, a small lighthouse is shown with a ferry behind it. That is Brant Point Lighthouse on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts. The ferry is "The Eagle" and it is leaving the Nantucket terminal. So in fact, "Shelter Island" is Nantucket island. From the exotic setting show, it's portrayed as a tropical destination. It was a good episode but from being called "shelter island" I had expected some more outside, island setting scenes. Other notes: Nantucket island is 40 miles from the Massachusetts coast. It is 14 miles long by 3 miles wide. It's a very popular summer tourist area, with a population of approx 70-80,000 in the summer and 10,000 in the winter.

Synopsis How I Met Your Mother: Season 4, Episode 1

In his quest to get back together with Stella, Ted comes to the realization that he loves her, so asks her to marry him. She says yes. Later, Ted, after being questioned by Marshall, also comes to the realization that he knows very little about his bride-to-be. Ted, admitting this fact to her, starts to ask Stella a bunch of questions to find out more about her. One of the more important facts that he learns is that she's never seen Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), his favorite movie of all time. Stella liking or not liking the movie could be a marriage breaker, especially as Ted is egged on by equally Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) loving Marshall. Someone also in love is Barney: with Robin. Sensing that she knows something is going on, Barney confides in Lily. Lily gives him advice on how he can be her boyfriend (despite Barney denying that what he wants to be is anything called a boyfriend).

Review :

The start of my favourite season of HIMYM...

...And I mean EVER. HIMYM Season 4 is the season that hooked me into HIMYM more so than the others. I like this season because Stella leaves for good (I hate her), Ted goes back on track with his search for "The One", Barney falls in love with Robin, Ted does an archaetecture job that fails and leads to a College Professor job... definitely a great season.

The fade-ins and fade-outs to Season 3 and 4 were funny because at the end of Season 2 Barney says "it's gonna be le-gen... wait for it" and that's it and at the beginning of season 3 it starts with him saying "...dary legendary". Season 3 ends with Ted saying "will you marry me?" and it starts with the narrator saying "the longest pause a man will make in his life is when he says..." well you get the idea.

The Star Wars gimmick was hilarious it's his favourite movie yet Stella hasn't seen it Marshall blows it and Ted doesn't know what the problem is until he's seen it "It's just a movie... OK If Stella doesn't like this movie I won't marry her" makes me laugh.

Ted asks the question to Stella and then we discover the fact that he doesn't know her at all and he doesn't care until Ted cooks Dinner for Stella How Stella makes Ted realise he needs to know more about her goes something like this: Ted: can you guess what my secret ingredient is? Stella: Is it peanuts? Ted: Yes how did you know...? (Stella faints) Never before have I seen this many Character arc's in a season of TV except In Joss Whedon shows let me explain...If you look at this episode then my favourite episode "The Leap" you would say "These characters are not the same characters just played by the same people".

This is one great episode especially the text "Stop watching me you bastards" also cracks me up. This season is legen-wait for it-

Review :

Offensively Bad to Musical Fans

Let's just put this up front, this show is not good. The writing is lazy and often terrible. All of the characters are so undeveloped that they should have their stock descriptions written on their shirts. The costume design is occasionally as lazy as the writing.

Now these offenses are enough to mark any show as awful, but let's not forget what this show is claiming to be. This is the musical show, which is really what it should be called since it leans on this crutch so forcefully that the basic plot seems secondary to even the creators. So then, how's the music? Oh, it's just like the rest of the show, garbage. The lyrics are possibly worse than the wooden dialogue, not to mention that the songs feel forced even for a musical. Did we really need a song that basically consists of the phrase "going viral" over and over, or, God help us, an entire song about Twitter? If you were unsure, the answer to both those questions is a resounding NO. But I'm sure the music composition is good, right? Nope. Each song sounds like it was composed by a 12-year-old that just discovered GarageBand on his mom's Mac. Although I will acquiesce this one point, all of the singing is pretty good, with some of the actors showing some real vocal talent.

I can only imagine that the creators sat down and thought, "Musical fans are easy to please, I mean look at Glee. Let's just take a boring premise, and we'll just throw some generic songs throughout, and I'm sure they will just be so excited to have a musical show that they will look passed the obvious little care we put into this. Oh, and let's have a bleeped F-bomb in one of the songs, so we can say we're being edgy".

A bad show is a bad show, and throwing a gimmick into it will not make it any better. In the case of browsers, it is possible that the insistence on making this show a musical has taken a lackluster show and made it soul-crushingly terrible. The quicker that Amazon stops producing this show, the better. But hey, it's good to see that Bebe Neuwirth is still alive, so there's that.

Review :

Funny, intelligent, amazing.

New Girl is the type of series that you won't want to stop watching. IT will certainly put you in a good mood and you'll find yourself laughing while watching it.

The characters are incredibly well-written, each one of them having a back story that is easy to keep up with and very believable. It doesn't take long for us to feel like we're also living in this apartment where Jess moves in after being cheated on by her boyfriend. Soon enough, you'll be feeling like these characters are your friends too and you know them well. Each one of them has their particularities; they all have different personalities and obsessions that make them unique and set them apart from each other.

The fact that there's some plot development throughout the series makes it an interesting show to actually follow and not just watch once in a while. We also see some character development, changes in the characters' personalities that make us either proud or disappointed.

Truth is, there's no chance this show won't leave a mark on you. It's funny, but still intelligent. It's not some dumb show that simply aims at making the viewer laugh. The jokes are not corny and the events are not random. This is one comedy show like no other: The characters are not stereotyped, and the storyline is not typical and easily foreseeable.

Give this show a chance. You won't regret it.

Review :

"AMERICAN BEAUTY" - With A Faceful of Acid...

If we have absorbed the lessons of what independent family dramas have taught us in the past few decades, what have we learned? That Father Has Never "Known Best", that the "Dreams of The Everyday Housewife" can be laced with resentment, disillusionment, fear and madness? That the placid, peaceful, tranquil picture of the all-American family we have believed in (and taught to uphold and emulate) by our own parents, has always been a facade for all kinds of dementia and dysfunction?

If this is true, then what Ryan Murphy has done is taken the clichés of everything from chief competitor Alan Ball's award-winning American BEAUTY and Stephen King's THE SHINING, put them on steroids and blended them together in his word processor. The result? American HORROR STORY, where the only thing more terrifying than a haunted house laden with secrets that rip people to shreds, are the secrets and lies infesting the lives of one family that threaten to rip THEM to shreds.

When a tragic miscarriage and an even more shattering act of infidelity threaten to tear apart their tenuous marriage, Ben Harmon (THE PRACTICE'S Dylan McDermott) and his wife Vivien (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS' Connie Britton) take their teenage daughter, Violet (Taissa Farmiga) and move away from their "house of horrors" to find a new start somewhere...ANYWHERE that they can put the noxious past behind them and at least try to have a go at tending to their gaping emotional wounds.

The place they choose - or maybe that chooses THEM - a run-down manse on the outskirts of L.A., turns out to be a real bargain, and though irredeemably creepy, does have an antiquated charm...if you're into murals that would give even Hieronymous Bosch nightmares.

In no short order, unsettling and strange characters - as much as the house itself is - begin to materialize and insinuate themselves into the Harmons' lives, whether they want them to or not: next-door neighbor Constance (Jessica Lange in a brilliant turn), whose demeanor suggests a deadly combo of Blanche DuBois, Norma Desmond and Gale Sondergaard's Black Widow; Frances Conroy (Ruth Fisher from SIX FEET UNDER) as the mysterious housekeeper, Moira, who appears to the rest of the family as one persona, while tempting Ben's weakness for "a taste of strange" with another more lascivious presence, (played by Alexandra Breckenridge); Larry Harvey (TRUE BLOOD alum Denis O'Hare), a horribly burned man who seems to be stalking Ben, and who has his own deadly history with the house and what lives there, and Constance's daughter, Adelaide, (Jamie Brewer), with Downs' Syndrome, yet who seems to have it more together - and knows more about the house - than anyone else around her.

Even Ben's practice as a psychologist is fraught with peril, with the introduction of a teen patient named Tate Langdon (Evan Peters), who has an easier time picking apart and savaging the weaknesses in Ben's emotional armor than Ben does in probing his inscrutable and infuriating new charge's troubled mind. Not to mention that his growing fascination/infatuation with Violet doesn't help things one little bit.

Many people have cried fowl about the show's penchant for relying heavily on old horror tropes and clichés, without even paying attention to how it has been taking said clichés and twisting them into newer and even more unsettling shapes than today's average hot mess passing itself off as a 'horror film.' Leave it to FX to allow Murphy and his team - much as they did with NIP/TUCK - the freedom to push the boundaries of where a horror-infused series can go, without the constraints that hog-tied many of the like-minded series that came before it, such as the ground-breaking TWIN PEAKS or American Gothic, (which wasn't anywhere near as well-written as this).

Two episodes in and I am already intrigued, grossed-out and frankly spooked by what I have seen so far. I just hope that the quality continues to get even better as plot lines and characters get darker and more deadly secrets are unearthed...

Review :

Superb. It's about time

Lets get this out of the way straight away THIS WILL BLOW PEOPLES SOCKS OFF. Im not kidding. I know people here are attracted to this genre for various different reasons but i'd like to think we all share some connection when zombies are involved. For me its the post apocalyptic scenario. I don't particularly need the gore element but it has its place when used well.

In Darabonts take on the apocalypse, you are there. The world is dead and rotting. The military have lost the battle. You wake up with Rick in this new world and get to explore it with him. Its the exposition of the pilot that will probably put the gorehounds off and lead to some small criticism from others. Personally, i want to see that. I want to know how society responded to the phenomenon.

Those who have read the comic books here know that Kirkmans trick is to get you attached to the characters, like you know them intimately, then kill them off. Here Darabont uses the same trick but not how you would expect nor with who you would expect.

Im personally invested in this series already. God knows what it will do to the average TV viewer. Im also not a particularly emotional person but i don't mind admitting that i was close to tears on a couple of occasions. There you go. I've said it. Just don't tell anyone.

I cant say enough about Frank darabont after watching this. He understands what this genre is all about and, more importantly, he understands Romero's zombie world. The zombies are Roamers and lurkers. They act how they should and you do feel sorry for them. This is explored really well. They are a small threat but in groups all riled up and hungry. Well, you know the rest.

The score is also outstanding. Very understated but poignant. The cinematography is worthy of a movie and the camera moves a lot. I cant recall any shaky cam which some people here seem to despise.

Kirkman, Darabont and AMC have come up with the series we have been waiting years for. Long may it continue, and you know what? I think it will. The balance is perfect between a horror film, TV show and intelligent drama.

Oh and btw. Keep getting people onboard with this. Co workers. Non zombie lover friends. Anyone. They wont think you're weird. They'll thank you. The Lost crowd are going to lap this up.
